Mistakes

God I beg you help me please,
Heal this hole inside my soul,
Make my true spirit whole,
This I implore.

Make out of my mistakes,
A path I can truly take.
Heal the pain inside my heart,
Let your true glory last.

This time it's not just me,
That must find peace,
God help my loved ones please,
And safely bring them back to me.

Make out of my mistakes,
A path I can truly take.
Let it all be for the best,
Even if I've failed the test.

Let me say I'm sorry please,
If You I have displeased,
Selfish as I might have been,
Please help, keep them safe for me.

Make out of my mistakes,
A path I can truly take.
Make me find the way,
To reunite with they.

They, who suffered all for me,
They that forgave me,
They I cannot forget,
They that we must not forsake.

Make out of my mistakes,
A path I can truly take.
Please God, beyond a doubt,
Show me the way how,
So we can find peace to live,
Forever in your company.

(1) Journey to Eternity
Start a journey to find... The brightest light...
Focus, don't stray... from the path.
To realize, the dreams, that find, a way,
Deep into your heart.
What are you waiting for? - It's a new day.
Guide me towards the light, King of eternity,
Kindness, wisdom, might,
And the land of destiny.
All will be alright,
For you are here with me,
Let my spirit find, Your infinity.
If there is peril,
Do not forget,
There shall be peace,
In the end.
For we are here because of you,
To discover, your treasures true.
Guide me towards the light, King of eternity,
Kindness, wisdom, might,
And the land of destiny.
All will be alright,

(1) Rain
Let rain fall, let it cover up the earth,
Let it come, wash away my worry,
Bless me again, like you have since birth,
Show me the way, let my path be clear not blurry.
Plant the seed, that you wish to see,
Let the rain fall upon it,
Build the being that you wish to be.
Hold fast, to your heart,
This is a new start,
Never to be apart,
From the perfect work of art.
Let the rain fall tonight,
Let it bring a new dawn,
Let it make the future bright,
Reveal the reasons I was born.
Let rain fall, let it cover up the earth,
Let it come, wash away my worry,
Bless me again, like you have since birth,
Show me the way, let my path be clear not blurry.
Plant the seed, watch it grown,
Reach out further than you've known.
Let it rain, let it fall,
Blessings far and wide,
Break the walls.
Let rain fall, let it cover up the earth,
Let it come, wash away my worry,
Bless me again, like you have since birth,
Show me the way

Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana

Adol Christin can add saving my life to his extensive adventurer's resume. This game kept me sane through the Internet-less boredom fiasco that was hurricane Maria's aftermath.

I like how they improved the map function from Memories of Celceta. Now you don't need to hug every corner, just being at a reasonable distance from the edges will register those areas on the map.

The overall plot felt a bit slower and slice of life than other Ys games at first since you're not immediately thrown into the more legendary aspect of the story, which does later emerge. None the less, the subplots are still fun and add some variety. Survivor, murder mystery, Pirates of the Caribbean, you'll get those vibes alongside the usual Ys goodness.

I'm writing this ahead with the intention of posting when I can get back online. I have six party members, so I think that's everyone. I love Adol and Dogi as much as ever, but of the new playable characters my favorites are Hummel, the adorkable transporter, and Ricotta, the fashionable jungle girl. I wish Silvia was playable.

The overall plot, legend and ending wasn't as strong as Celceta or Seven. It felt like they were aiming big, so big they went into deus ex machina territory, but overall the game is still lots of fun so that little detail at the end can be forgiven.

Painfully Slow

The hurricane is old news by now, but things are still not back to normal in the middle of no where. I always knew the place was incompetent, they don't maintain the electricity and water systems properly until they break. The grid fell apart months ago and there was a massive blackout on clear sunny days. I'm not going to accept excuses and let them say it was all the hurricane. Plus the slow pace of the recovery is inexcusable.

I'll be trying to catch up with everything today. I have a lot of stuff to post that I've been working on offline. During the dark ages (which are still not over) Mom and Internet Mom had their birthdays. Happy (late) birthday!

Many thanks to everyone who's been trying to reach me. I posted my old blogs, though they feel very outdated. They were written on the twenties of September. If you still want to have a look at the more detailed description of what was going on please DM me on Twitter for the password. I'll also post an update on the family situation and my parent's health, you can DM me for that password too.

This was my initial list, though it kept growing as more things that could be improved were found. My car is fixed and stuff is clean, but the house still needs some improvements before it becomes a true fortress that'll laugh at the next category 5. Finding workers and materials hasn't been easy.

List of things to do after Maria:

+ Replace tires, align new tires and check breaks for water damage

+ Replace back porch roof

+ Repair photovoltaic battery backup

+ Seal whole roof against leaks

+ Reinforce windows against leaks

+ Clean debris off roof and examine damage to PV panels

+ Get a new water tank and heater

+ Clean and paint

Eternal Invisible Flame

The light of hope fades away,
Emptiness invades,
The last ray of brightness goes,
So far, far away.

Nothing but smoke where a fire burned,
No warmth, no flame,
Ashes of a broken day,
For the end of this I pray.

There is nothing left,
Not a single small trace,
Yet out of nothing may come something more.

Nothing but smoke where a fire burned,
No warmth, no flame,
Ashes of a broken day,
For the end of this I pray.

I fall silent, there is no light,
I wait in emptiness and nothingness,
There is no hope, of that I'm sure,
Yet there is something to fight for.

Nothing but smoke where a fire burned,
No warmth, no flame,
Ashes of a broken day,
For the end of this I pray.

The flame is alight again,
Hope is beyond understanding,
Can you see the invisible?

Something new where a fire burned,
New warmth, a new flame.
Ashes blown away, now clean.
For the start of new days I pray.

Like I mentioned on Twitter, mom is doing better.  Mom's wound closed surprisingly well. They're doing some tests as a precaution, but overall she's doing well. I guess I'm not so bad at first aid after all.

It's been a while since I've told you airport stories, so here's one. Not that many weird things happen at the private flights area. It's a lot less crowded and less rushed. Last night was busy though. When you look at the empty ramp it seems so big, put a couple of Gulfstream IVs in there and you realize it's tiny.

One was staying and the other, unrelated to the first, was just getting fuel, until a passenger started having cardiac problems. I got them the airport paramedics, who determined he had to be hospitalized. Though most of us picture an old man when we think of cardiac problems, the passenger turned patient looked to be in his twenties.

The ground handler/marshal, the new boy, was all nerves the whole time, I can handle chaos pretty well, so I told him to chill out. This was after he said he was picking me up to assist on ground and then drove past me, realized what he did and turned around. Even a ports authority agent showed up to watch the drama unfold.

I'm pretty sure I was the calmest person there. Cold as it sounds, the difference between a crisis and an adventure is if you and your loved ones are affected or not. It is this very sense of distance that makes me a more effective assistance, moving things along, communicating and going through the protocols properly and quickly, and there are a lot of protocols at the airport.

The marshal ended up going to the hospital with the family to help them as an interpreter, since their first language was Portuguese and they spoke little English. This station is often used as a midpoint to refuel in routes between the northern states of the USA and South America. Though we're not really fluent in Portuguese, we're all required to be English/Spanish bilinguals and we get so many Portuguese speakers stopping for fuel we're used to figuring out what they're saying based on its similarities to Spanish.

Since this was a private jet with only one family on board, it wasn't going anywhere. That meant it needed to be moved to a proper parking spot, since the marshal left it in front of the feeder ramp thinking it was leaving soon anyway. The crew was planning to spend the night on the plane so there needed to be personnel at the FBO. I called the overnight on-call guy and handed him my post when he arrived.

I went home, showered, then went to bed right away since it was late. I'm off today, playing videogames and relaxing.

Updates on various areas of my life and a new poem/lyrics.

I changed my Word Press layout and added a new banner. The character was based on Sailor Moon but isn't really a specific character, just a sailor style anime girl with colors I like.

Mom is doing better, though I'm still concerned because of the nature of her injury and overall medical condition, so I'll be keeping an eye on her.

I'm holding off on renewing Netflix since the house internet is out and I want to conserve cell internet, as it's not infinite. At least my signal is good. Looking forward to several series in the coming months. Also looking forward to several video games. I'm still holding off on my PS4 maybe until I see the Christmas offers, though I might be tempted to buy it early, I want to wait a bit before spending, since I don't like to spend too much all at once. I've never been in debt because I make sure to keep a bit of money for emergencies and want to keep doing that.

My blue glasses frames should be delivered soon. Then I'll have to get the prescription lenses made so it'll be a while before I can use them, then I'll be back to having 3 pairs in my colors, blue, pink and silver. I'll post pics when they're done.

I told my friends from the Christian group at work that I would write another poem, since it's been a while. I usually write them as lyrics with a melody, but I don't know how to write music so you'll have to use your imagination. This one has a gentle rhythm and calm hopeful theme.

Your Blessing Will Come

Your blessing will come,
The answer, will reach,
Restoring the calm,
For all and for each.

Confidence... I have confidence in You.
Confidence, I know that You'll guide me through.

Tomorrow will come,
Wash away yesterday,
There's no need to run,
New hope, a new day.

Wash away... wash away,
The sorrows of yesterday,
Wash away... wash away,
The pain of yesterday.

Your blessing will come,
The answer, will reach,
Restoring the calm,
For all and for each.

Through the darkest time,
Brightest star, You shine,
I hold Your hand in mine,
Forever You are kind...

Your blessing will come,
The answer, will reach,
Restoring the calm,
For all and for each.

Confidence... I have confidence in You.
Confidence, I know that You'll guide me through.

So much to be grateful for,
Even amidst this harsh storm,
Don't let us go, I implore,
You are with us, I know.

Your blessing will come,
The answer, will reach,
Restoring the calm,
For all and for each.

Your blessing will come,
The answer, will reach,
Restoring the calm,
For all and for each,
Let us sing this psalm,
For grateful peace.

First a description of the building. It's shaped like an L and it has doors on each end. The shorter part is the office and lobby where I work and the longer part has a bunch of smaller offices. The inner corner of the L shape also has doors on each section that lead out to a parking lot. One of those inner corner doors is connected to the lobby and the other leads to a dark narrow hallway (known as "the Batcave") which connects to the main hallway of the long row of small offices.

The guard went out to the parking to clean his car because there's not much to do today anyway. He saw some lights from the long row of small offices and asked if there's anyone there. I truthfully told him people go home and leave the office lights on and only our side of the building operates at night. While he was cleaning his car, I went around the long way, through the hall and started turning lights off and on in the office where the company founder's ghost is said to reside. I heard the guard drop something and scramble to his post, tripping over himself, before coming out of the Batcave door to the parking. He heard the door and froze, wide eyed, then nearly choked in disbelief when he saw it was just me. In his own words, I scared him shitless.

I had a water bottle that I took to work. It helped me keep track of how much I drank and made it easier to ensure that I was hydrated enough. It broke today, it was my fault and it bothered me more than a simple water bottle should. I felt like Hulk in a glass filled building, hopelessly clumsy. It took me a moment to assimilate how stupid the accident had been. To top it up, I found a small dent in the corner of my Asus. I've had it since 2014 and it still works very well. I've taken it to work and left it in my desk, I've put it under the seat of my car, its had a long active life and the dent is nothing compared to how much I've used it, moving it around and the fact that it still works very well. Even so, this bugs me. Maybe I'm just upset because things have been breaking lately and I'm tired of it, maybe being tired from work has contributed to it too.

I posted about it at Twitter, though very briefly, but I can now officially say I've used Word Press for work purposes.

They wanted a private site where people could share information and categorize it. Not exactly a forum, since people would only need to post about once a day at most. Comments weren't a requirement but a nice plus. I figured Word Press would work for this and installed it. I just finished setting everything up and it works. I basically got a description of what they needed and was left to figure out what to use myself. Cherri initially introduced me to Word Press and Adri made me give it a second look, which later got me to use it more.

miliazure.wordpress.com/2017/0…

I’ve been nominated for another Liebster Award.  I’m not sure what the limit is on these or if we can keep on nominating each other back and forth. You can probably only nominate each person once a year and you can be nominated by different people, but only once a year by each one, probably.  Last time I as nominated by Adri and now I’ve been nominated by Maroon.  I nominated both of them, along with a few other people in my previous post. This time I’ll make the entry a little more casual, see my other post for more details.

About Marron, I haven’t known her for too long but have just recently started talking to her a little and hope to continue talking to her more regularly. Her blog has a super cute design and cheerful tone. We first met at the Wellspring Dreams Club, where several people from all corners of the web, including the blogging world have gathered to chat about anything and everything.  Here are my questions from Marron:

Do you ever worry?

Not too much, but often enough. I can be optimistic, like there’s a limit to how much I can worry before I’ll just let the world fall apart around me because the effort that goes into holding it up is greater than the impact of its fall. I do worry, especially about family stuff (parent’s health mostly) but I think my “limit” makes me calmer than most people. Other than that I’m not really worried about anything else, and though the situations may get more serious with time, I actually become less worried as I become used to reality and keep a plan in mind for what may come.

What are you most grateful for?

My life, my good health that I thankfully don’t have to work too hard for, friends, technology, video games, fun series and movies, chocolate, art, God, and everything I enjoy.

Do you have a favorite manga/anime?

This changes with time, though some of my all time favorites include Sailor Moon (Beryl Saga), Pokemon (Indigo League), Slayers, Ranma 1/2 and Dragon Ball Z.

How about a favorite game?

Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy VII, Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky 1 and 2, Hatsune Miku: Project Diva F and F2, Pokemon X and Moon, Dragon Ball Xenoverse 1, Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars

Cartoon? What’s your favorite cartoon?

As in non-anime series? Miraculous Ladybug! It’s French . From America, it’s Reboot. If we’re counting animated movies too, Wreck it Ralph.

What are you most looking forward to right now?

Getting my PS4 when I save up enough for it and playing Final Fantasy XV on it. The Vita release for Ys Lacrimosa of Dana and a few Netflix series that are getting a new season.

What kind of kid were you?

Quiet, shy and geeky. I got good grades and didn’t really get into trouble. I was also a loner and didn’t talk to anyone unless they spoke to me first.

What’s the last thing you read?

The above question… lol  I don’t read books, I prefer audio or audiovisual mediums.

Is your room messy or clean?

A little of both. It’s clean on the outside, but the closet is super cluttered.

If you could do one thing right now, what would it be?

Go home!  I’m at work, just an hour and a half to go, but I already finished all my work for the day. I’m just here in case the phone rings or an email arrives. Other than the immediate future, I would buy my PS4 if I could, I’ll probably be able to get it in a few months.

How many pets do you have?

Zero, though I used to have a few fish as a child.

Here are my questions, nominees who have not yet answered the previous questions can choose which set they want to answer.

AdriSnowCherriShiRobinMaroon

  1. What was that movie that you watched over and over as a kid?
  2. What color are the majority of your clothes?
  3. How many hours do you usually sleep?
  4. Do you have a food you love and eat every day?
  5. Do you like drinking water?
  6. Look to your right, what do you see?
  7. Look to your left, what do you see?
  8. What’s your computer wallpaper?
  9. What’s your phone wallpaper?
  10. What’s the video game you’ve played for the longest time total?
  11. What song have you been enjoying listening to a lot lately?

I'm working on a fanart for Relativity, a series which is currently on hiatus and I hope returns soon. It's about super heroes, exploring both their crime figthing adventures as well as thier personal lives as civilians with a secret identity. I can't share a link because the sites are currently inactive, though hopefully they'll come back. If anyone knows where the story and art can be viewed at the moment, let me know. The fanart I'm working on is of Johnny, Relativity's hacker boy, because I'm predictable and tend to have a soft spot for computer geek guys. Seeing Caleb from Pretty Little Liars reminded me of Johnny, and working on the fanart reminded me of where the concept came from. In the drawing, Johnny is having a dream about hacking and physically interacting with the code as it floats around him. This is based on a dream I had about web-design where I could change the CSS in a similar way. To all you web-designers and digital artists out there, have you ever had a similar dream where you're kind of inside the computer?

I've been asked how I reached the decision to use solar, this is the story.

The way the media presents renewable energy feels misleading, and I didn't realize this until I did my own research. They go on and on about saving the planet and fail to point out just how genuinely useful this stuff is.

I live in the middle of nowhere and the regular power fails every now and then. When I started looking for backups, my first thought went to a gasoline powered generator. I looked at a few, but the ones that were a reasonable size and price, were weak, they would need to be refueled every 10 hours or so. If I fueled it at sundown, it wouldn't even last through the night and I don't want to deal with flammable liquid in the middle of the darkness of night. The other weaknesses are that they're stinky and loud, thus need to be kept away from the house and I don't have that much room far enough so that it's not a bother.

I looked at gas cylinder generators next. They lasted a lot longer, but they were still a little stinky, though less so, and they still made some noise even if it was also less. The cylinders can be refilled, but I’d have to wait for the gas to be delivered, since it’s not as easy to get ahold of as gasoline.

Finally, I went to look at solar, with no intension of taking it seriously, I was just there because some coworkers had good things to say, but I wondered if they were just missing something in the fineprint. I was surprised at how useful this sort of thing is. The key are not the widely advertised panels, the true core are the batteries. Hearing about solar power from a salesperson and from a client is completely different from hearing from environmentalists and the media. They skip the what ifs and planet stuff and go straight to the point: why this is good for me and those close to me in the present.

A full 24 hours of moderate power (lights, computers, wifi, TV, refrigerator, fans), I got the economy version, so I’m staying away from high power (microwave, stove and inefficient ACs like the old one I have). I prefer to eat take out and don’t like hot food (it makes me nauseous), so that doesn’t bother me. As for the AC, it would be a generator killer anyway, and upgrading generators is harder, since they can’t be easily integrated and more power means more fuel expenses and more stench. Maybe I’ll get a better AC in the future that's more efficient, or maybe I’ll just get an exclusive battery pack for it, but for now I’m fine. I don't get hot easily, I mostly turn on the AC to drown out the annoying crikets outside. I could just as well use a fan and play white noise on my phone on a loop.

I used to think it would be good to hold off on renewable energy until it became cheaper and more efficient. I thought the country should benefit from what's easiest for as long as it can and maybe that would help the economy. But now, I'm all up for moving to renewable full speed, because in the long run it actually is cheaper, more reliable, more convenient, and when I say the long run, I mean within my lifetime.

I would switch to full solar if I could, my little backup is set to last a day without sunlight and the full power expensive version I didn’t get would last three, upgrading is remarkably easy though, since the overall system is pretty modular.  Granted, it may not be for everyone, (certainly not for tall buildings with little roof space relative to the floor space) but for someone who lives in a single story house this close to the equator line, I’d worry about the apocalypse if the sun fails to shine for a full day, because it always has, every day, for as long as I’ve lived, it’s ridiculously reliable.

I did the math and I can pay for about 14 years of power (not adjusting for inflation) with what I would have to invest to get full solar equipment that comes with a 25 year warranty. Assuming power doesn't become more expensive (which it likely will) and all my equipment breaks down the second the warranty expires (which it likely won't) that's still at least 10 more years of power. Too bad I don't have the money for the initial investment, all the more reason to be on the side of development, so that maybe one day it'll be cheaper, better, and affordable. I would love the independence that comes from making my own power without relying on public power, which is not reliable at all.

In conclusion, I’m pro renewable energy, but not because of the environment, I’m in it for me.

Tomorrow will suck and so will the day after. They're finally installing the solar backup system and they'll be here early. I hate getting up early. It should all be done in two days. I hope everything goes smoothly. I wish I could go to sleep and wake up in the future when it's all done, but I've been having to take charge of more stuff around here since my parents are getting old, and it's not just their age but also their health.

Unfinished business has always bothered me, waiting for something, etc. It feels like I can't fully focus on what I want when there's something I need to get done and it sucks when you can't just get it over with and move on quickly. I just keep reminding myself that things will be much better after these two awful days of mornings, noise and messes are done.

It seems that I'm always meaning to blog more but I rarely do. Let's see if I can catch up on all the latest happenings.

This blog turned out longer than I thought... Maybe I'll blog again sometime? For the most part I'm usually on Twitter. I think I'll divide this into topics.

Solar Power

As I mentioned some time ago on twitter, we're converting the house to hybrid power, with a solar backup to be specific. It has nothing to do with the environment, I'm pro solar because of convenience, not for the planet's sake, but for my own.

Local power in the middle of nowhere can be unreliable, especially recently, and this backup should help with that. I wrote an article about being a pro solar who can't stand the idea of being labeled an environmentalist, but haven't posted it yet. I might later. I usually abstain from expressing my love for photovoltaic rechargeable gel batteries because I want nothing to do with the whole environmental drama, but I do love those solar charged batteries, because of the tech they can conveniently and economically power.

Sadly, because I'm in the middle of nowhere, stuff takes a while to get here, and the proper materials are yet to arrive to commence installation. I should probably call them again tomorrow to complain about the delay. I have seen the system in action though and want to have it asap. I tense up every time the electricity flickers, thinking it'll go out and I'll be condemned to limited technology and boredom.

Glasses

On other sad news, my blue Sketcher glasses broke while I was at work. I spent half a shift holding papers up close and leaning into the computer to see. I have my pink Vogue glasses, but the blue ones were my favorite. I also have a silver pair, but they're my stay at home glasses, since they're kind of plain and I want to be a kawaii megane. The prescription is the same on all of them, just different frames.

I've been looking at possible glasses to buy, since blue is my favorite color and I'll miss having a blue pair. Though I like the pink Vogue pair I have, I wasn't able to find them in blue and their current selection didn't catch my attention. Prada and Michael Kors failed to impress and I wasn't able to find any Elizabeth Arden. My first glasses as a teenager were Elizabeth Arden, I wonder if they even make glasses anymore?

I didn't just look at those brands, that's just were my expectations were higher. I'm picky with glasses, fashion has moved to big glasses that don't favor me. I need small glasses, especially with the type of prescription I use. Even with ultra thin lenses, the larger the lenses, the thicker they'll be on the sides. I can't wear contacts, due to my eyes being sensitive and tearing up.

I like half rim glasses, which makes it easier to get the lenses resized. I was once told by a place that they couldn't do a custom cut because it was "impossible" without the proper mold. This obviously begs the question, why don't you just make a custom mold? I recommend asking about this type of thing before getting any purchases started. It's a simple request, but a lot of places are too lazy, or too outdated, or just lacking the skill to make basic mods to the lenses.

Fortunately, I found a good place for lenses. They did my pink Vogue pair with a custom mold, the original sample lenses were taller. I found a cute pair I can order that's surprisingly cheap for how nice it looks. I hope it doesn't lose its shine, I always worry that'll happen with the lesser known brands. I'll have to get the lenses resized if I get it though, since I don't like the size. I also saw another alternative, a tad pricier but still cheaper than local stores, from Kate Spade, never heard of them before, but they have some cute and colorful options.

My concern is more so about quality than brand name, but if a brand is familiar at least you know what to expect. I've owned Elizabeth Arden, Sketchers and Vogue glasses before as well as other brands, though these are the ones that stayed nice and shiny the longest. The manager from my past position at work had a Michael Kors pair and she seemed quite happy with them. I'll still give these other unknown brands a try, if they lose their shine, I suppose I'll just have to replace them, but I'll at least have something nice to wear for a while.

At least I don't have to go to far to have the lenses made. I'll just drop everything off with a coworker so he can take them to his wife, who's an eye doctor. They also give me better prices than any other place, my prescription is expensive. I have astigmatism, myopia, light sensitivity, elongated eyes, and general sensitivity. Genetics, you win some, you lose some.

I actually knew I needed glasses since I was a kid, but hid it until I failed my driver's eye exam at 16 because I didn't want glasses back then. Fortunately, I didn't mind anymore by the time they became a necessity, because in the years between childhood and adolescence, glasses had become a cute accessory. Nowadays I like having several cute pairs. I'm a proud megane girl.

Video Games

All these expenses are making me delay the purchase of my Play Station 4. On the bright side, I've found a way around the Surface Pro 4's overheating problem and I've been able to play Fairy Fencer F for much longer, albeit at a lower resolution. Apparently it's a hardware thing that has happened to other people and there are tricks around it.

I heard that a coworker is going on vacation in the middle of the month so I'll have a busier schedule, but I'm trying to look on the bright side, at least I'll earn more. I hope to move forward on Fairy Fencer F and maybe even finish the game before my schedule gets busy. As always, there will be screen shots on Steam.

I'm also still enjoying Yugioh! Duel Links on mobile. I haven't leveled up in a while, since I don't have the right cards, but it's still fun to play. If anyone wants to duel, contact me on Twitter at miliazure.

Art and Entertainment

Nail art plans for the future include Teen Titans and a lighthouse, though I'm yet to plan out each nail. I went with simple perfume bottles today, since I needed to take the extra time to file my nails. As much as I love long nails, they don't mix well with touch screens.

I'm almost done with a fanart of Eryn from Fairy Fencer F, which I'll post soon.

I'm on Season 5, Episode 22 of Pretty Little Liars. Tyler Blackburn, aka Caleb Rivers, is still my favorite and main reason for watching.

A coworker is encouraging me to watch Glee, though the overall premise doesn't catch my attention, she's trying to motivate me by showing me pics of handsome actors... I may or may not have tentatively already picked a potential favorite, I guess it depends on the type of character he plays.

I really miss Relativity and hope the author resolves things and gets to a place where writing is once again enjoyable. Caleb is making me miss Johnny, the Relativity computer geek.

Just had a lengthily conversation involving math and cubic feet calculations with my coworkers about if we could fit 300 million dollars in the lobby in 100 dollar bills. After some Googling, improvised measurements and botched math, we concluded that we could fit approximately 105 million dollars inside the lobby in 100 dollar bills. It made me feel like we were a crew of theorizing You Tubers. I wonder if anyone has actually talked about this on You Tube.

Moana

A review, there will be spoilers.

First let's get the negative out of the way. With the ocean as her ally, it felt like less of the adventure was up to Moana, though she still did plenty. I would have liked to see her depend more on her wits to get Maui to cooperate and less on the ocean making it physically impossible for him to lose her. Basically, less sentient water and more of Moana's free spirit. I would have preferred if Moana discovered that the ocean reacted to her, rather than it having a will of its own, then it would have felt like more fell on her shoulders as the protagonist. Plus it would have been cool to see her go all on a water bending battle with Teka, before realizing that she was Tafiti. The final battle with Moana just walking to Teka felt anticlimactic, like there should be more of a struggle.

As cool as Maui's shape shifting is, he would have grown more as a character if he didn't get it back. The deities that adopted him did indeed make him unique by giving him the hook. Moana's line should have been about how the hook doesn't make him Maui. Then he could have gone off to prove he can be a hero without relying on the hook. This would have also contributed to the ending. Though I like how Moana wants to leave her predictable island life, while at the same time valuing its peace, it feels like a step back to focus on what their ancestors did, rather than what they could accomplish in the future. This is where the lack of hook comes in. Instead of having Maui form new islands from them to discover, it would come to their attention that he can't, to which Moana could reply "let's see what's beyond the islands!" Then it would open the door to her being the first to lead her people to befriend other civilizations, which seems grander than sticking to the archipelago. Maui could have joined the tribe as their equal and finally gotten the human acceptance he wanted first hand.

My only other critique is that the cute pet pig didn't get enough screen time in comparison to the rooster. They should have brought them both. The pig could have his own silly humor in being more chicken than a chicken. In my opinion, the pig was the more likable out of the two pets anyway.  The middle of the movie felt a bit slow, but I guess I could blame that on being pickier than I was as a kid, so I don't fault it for that.

With all of that out of the way, I'll mention the positives. I finished the movie to the end without getting bored, which is not something all movies can accomplish, to put it simply: it's all around entertaining. The animation is beautiful. I like the music, especially "How Far I'll Go" it's super catchy. The characters are likable and fun, especially Moana, Maui and the grandma. I realize that the positive section looks shorter than the negative, but that's only because there I'm offering my take on how the movie could have improved, where as here I have no changes to suggest, so not as much to explain. Overall, I did like the movie and will be listening to it's music.
